SHEEP

 

A better number of hoggs forward today even with most vendors coming to the end of their numbers, trade just easing over all in line with expectations but best quality hoggs remained good to sell. Top pp/kg today went to R A Dobson for a pen of 2 40kg beltex x realising 425ppkg, and top gross price today went to new vendors A Jackson with their superb texel and beltex x hoggs selling to £190/ head on two pens with the rest of their hoggs only a pound or behind. 114 hoggs made the SQQ weight with a big consignment of mules in the category, which sat at 335/kg, and quite a few heavy hoggs although very well sold just pulled the all-in average back to 321/kg. 12 new season lambs from W G Coleman sold to £170/ head or 378/kg to average 375/kg for Suffolk x. 

 

In the cull section, only 38 forward but all classes of ewe looked well sold with tops of £170 for shapely texel x from High farm and R A Dobson not far behind at £150 for a beltex x, mules sold to £112 and a pen of 12 Swaledales sold to £60 a head, with an average over all just under £90. Tups sold to £98 for a heavy Ryeland x from C G Croft
