York Auction Centre had 109 head of stock through the market including 81 store cattle, 26 calves and 2 breeding cattle.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £605 for a Limousin X Bull from T E & R Dent.

Breeding cattle sold to £1750 for a Simental X Heifer with a Saler Heifer calf at foot.

Heifers sold to £1690 for a Simantel X from J B Hornby.

Steers sold to £1700 for a Hereford from J B Hornby.

Bulls sold to £1045 for a Hereford from F Atkinson & Son.

Calves

Another good day’s trading at Murton, with 81 store cattle from vendors from as far as Lincolnshire and Holderness coming to take advantage of the decent trade! A lovely run of fresh calves from G&J Dean & son started the day with a super little Angus bull selling to £315, Angus heifers topped at £190 and black & white bulls sold very well from £275 for strong types and £90 for smaller rearing sorts, Stirks sold to £605 for a BRB X bull from T&R Dent.

In the store ring a nice 4-year-old Simmental x cow with Saler x heifer calf at foot from Alwyn Frankish sold to £1750, more cows & calves due in the market from other vendors in the coming weeks so look out for details! 

Plenty of store cattle penned again today with something for every pocket! Jim Hornby topped the day both with steers and heifers with a superb consignment, all very well fed and full of meat. Steers topped at £1700 for a Hereford x and heifers sold to £1690 for a Simmental x. Other notable strong cattle from D J Slatcher sold to £1590, and two tremendous Simmental steers from J Foulston & son sold to the same price! Plenty cattle just a shade smaller sold from 1200-1400 mark, and smaller summering cattle saw no let-up in demand with natives & dairy x blue heifers regularly around the £800 mark. All grades of bull good to sell with a nice consignment of dairy x blues selling to £880 from Chris Sykes and £895 for both M Wills and T&R Dent.
