Calves

A much busier days trading this week with store cattle numbers back up to the 100 head mark, a handful of calves and stirks, and a good show of pedigrees. The day started off with the calves, where a couple of super little fresh calves from A Burgess sold to £369 and 270 for a Lim X bull and Lim X heifer, stirks sold to £560 for a nice AAX bull presented by Fryer Bros, and a consignment of reared black and white bulls sold to £290/ head from B Lumley, well ahead of vendor expectations! 

Something for every pocket today and a packed ringside ensured a good trade for all! A W Turner took the top spot today with a well-shaped black Lim x steer selling to £1650, other shorter keep cattle ranged from £1300-£1440. Slightly longer-term cattle regularly sold away from £1100-£1250 with a consignment of Charolais x heifers from J F Lambert selling particularly well to £1280. Plenty summering cattle met a fast trade with a large consignment from H&B Beevers of Limousin x heifers and steers selling from £750-£895, other good consignments from T& R Dent and CT Bramley also sold well. 

Pedigrees

Limousins led the way at York! A nice show of stock bulls and heifers topped at 3750 guineas for the shaw family with Pleashaw Titan, toms’ choice Percy x Pleashaw Mandy selling to C G Sutcliffe of Wetwang and the second bull from the shaws sold to 3550 guineas for Pleashaw Tonka, toms choice Percy x Pleashaw Polly to regular mart supporter Granville Ellis of Huddersfield. A super Simmental bull from A R Bulmer flew away to 3350 guineas to regular vendors H & B Vendors. AAX bulls sold to 1110 guineas from M J Todd. Heifers sold to £1430 for a Simmental from the Altoft family, Ferry Field Norma, and a lovely BSH cow & calf outfit from A Falkingham sold to £1580 guineas. Just about 100% clearance across all pedigrees! Thank you to all vendors, buyers, and sponsors for your support!
