Calves

Another good day’s trading at YAC with trade looking firmer on the week! Only a couple of fresh calves today from A Burgess, which sold very well to £410 for a 4-week-old Limousin bull going to local mart supporter Steve Barnes. A mixed show of well-fed stirks followed, with heifers from A Rooke selling to £690 for a BRB X and bulls to £800 for a strong 4-month-old Lim x bull from the same home. All vendors returning home delighted!

In the store ring, all grades of cattle were keenly sought after, plenty more cattle could have been sold to fulfil buyer requirements!  A run of cow & calf outfits from T&R Dent started the sale selling to £1850 for a 3-year-old Lim cow with twin heifer calves at foot, £1760 for a Lim x cow with bull calf, and £1670 for a Lim x cow with heifer calf. More cows from the Dent family entered for next week!

Store cattle definitely looked firmer on the week, although not many cattle bigger than 550kgs in, we had some absolutely super consignments forward from vendors near & far. Trade topped at £1715 for a pair for Lim x steers from David Slatcher, Andrew Catton not far behind with a super Lim x steer selling to £1645 and a superb, shapely steer followed grossing £1615 or 344ppkg! Heavy dairy x beef steers sold away well from Brian Basham regularly around the £1400-£1500 mark.

Slightly smaller cattle from W B & A Kilby, S Barnes, and AW Turner were keenly sought after selling from around £1200-£1435, all brilliant cattle and more entered for the coming weeks.

Summering cattle also looked a good trade selling to £900 from J R Richardson for BRB X heifers, the weather certainly didn’t put anyone off buying, with some buyers even returning home empty! And just a handful of bulls met a good trade selling to £1020 for an AAX from D Kemp.

Plenty cattle can be handled every week! Please call Edward Stephenson or James Kilner for enquiries.

Spring rare breed sale Saturday the 20th!
