York Auction Centre had 91 head of stock through the market including 4 breeding cattle, 69 store cattle, 16 calves and 2 sheep.
TOP PRICES
Calves sold to £1080 for a Limousin heifer calf from A P & R A Dunn.
Breeding cattle sold to £1650 for a Beef Shorthorn Cow from J M Bulmer.
Heifers sold to £2145 for a Limousin X from A W Turner & Son.
Steers sold to £2155 for a Simmental X from S E Shields.
Bulls sold to £1810 for a Charolais X from J F Lambert.
A quieter day today but trade still remained fierce, especially for turning out cattle!
No fresh calves forward today, but 16 stirks of all shape and size sold very well, topped by AP & R A Dunn with a home bred Lim heifer selling to £1080, bull stirks sold to £820 for a well fed Sim X from J E Shepherd and dairy bulls sold to £620 for nice Shorthorn from D W & B Proctor.
A handful of in calf cows sold to £1650 for a Hereford X from J Bulmer and a nice BRBx back in calf to Lim from R Cornforth sold to £1640.
69 store cattle sold to £2155 for a pair of nice hardy Charolais from S E Shields with other strong cattle from the same home selling to £1890. Other strong steers from Olde Appleton Farm and L A Clappison sold to £1940, and £1915 respectively. Heifers were topped by A W Turner at £2145 for a nice Lim X heifer and other heavy types from P H Waring sold to £1995 for a Dairy X Sim. Smaller cattle looked tremendously well sold with grazing sorts topping at £1720 for a nice Lim X from W B & A Kilby, and J W & J Paxton sold a pair of nice Charolais to 521ppkg!
Bulls sold to tops of £1810, one of a pair of J F Lambert’s Charolais which had been outwintered and looked very well! Other Cont X bulls from Steven and Jaqui Houlder sold to £1500 and a nice pen of Dairy x BRBx bulls from J R Richardson sold to £1100/ head.
